Grab a Seat

Keep the spark alive
with the people who matter.

Grab a Seat remembers who you have been meaning to call, gives you a nudge when it has been a while, and celebrates every time you reach out. It never counts the days you missed.

Circles of closeness Three rings around you. The innermost ring holds the few people you want to hear from every week, the middle ring the ones you catch up with monthly, and the outermost the people you would like to keep from drifting away entirely. you every week every month now and then
You decide who sits close. The closer the circle, the sooner Grab a Seat says something.

What makes it different

It will never make you feel bad.

Most reminder apps run on guilt. They count what you failed to do and show you the number. Grab a Seat does the opposite, on purpose, everywhere.

What Grab a Seat says

Sarah would love to hear from you

Ready to connect

You're all caught up. Nice work!

And on the weeks you reach out to nobody at all, it says nothing whatsoever. No streak lost, no red badge, no catching up to do.

How it works

Three things, done properly.

  • Choose who sits close

Add the people you want to keep up with and say roughly how often. Weekly for a handful, now and then for the rest. You can change your mind at any time.

  • Get a nudge, not a nag

When it has been a while, you get one quiet reminder. Set quiet hours, or pause everything for a week. Miss it and nothing escalates, because nothing is keeping score.

  • Log it and get a little confetti

Tap once after you call, text, or meet up. Grab a Seat celebrates it, every single time, and then gets out of your way until the next one.

Your data

It lives on your phone.

Grab a Seat is built local-first. Your contacts, notes, and history are stored on your device, which is why the whole app keeps working with no signal at all. What syncs is a backup, so a lost phone is not a lost history.

  • Works offline once you are in

Add someone on a plane, log a call in a basement. Everything you do offline syncs the next time you have a connection. Signing in the first time does need one.

  • No ads, and nobody else watching

No advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels. We do not follow you around other apps or websites and we never sell or share your information. We do record which parts of the app get used, on our own servers, and you can read every one of those events in your export.

  • Take it or delete it, whenever

Export everything as JSON from inside the app. Delete your account and all of it goes immediately, without emailing anyone to ask.

  • Your contacts stay yours

Importing from your phone or from Google is optional, read-only, and happens once. Nothing is uploaded from your address book unless you pick it.

Who would you call, if you remembered to?
